Team and account
Employee directory and org chart CSV import
The directory stores employee details and reporting relationships. Administrators and managers have different access, and managers' employee data is scoped to their linked team.
Add and update employees #
Employees can be added with individual records or in bulk from a CSV. Directory fields include name, email, phone, department, position, employment type, work mode, joining date, and reporting manager. Names and contact fields are encrypted in the employee record; work and organization fields are stored as separate document values.
Check spelling, organization details, and the correct reporting relationship before saving. Updating a record changes provided values; it does not validate the organization chart against your HR system.
CSV import and org chart links #
CSV import reads UTF-8 data with an optional byte-order mark and expects named columns such as name, email, department, position, and reports_to_email. It validates rows and can partially succeed: invalid rows are returned as failures while valid rows are created. A second pass resolves manager emails against the same import batch or existing employees.
An unresolved or self-referential manager is returned as a warning rather than silently linked. Review the results and fix relationships after import. Import size and row limits are enforced by the server, so a very large file can be rejected or capped.
-
Prepare a UTF-8 CSV with a header row.
-
Include the required name field and any employee or manager columns you need.
-
Upload the file; the server can accept up to 500 data rows and enforces a byte limit.
-
Review created rows, failed rows, and unresolved manager warnings.
-
Correct any relationships that were not resolved as intended.
- name — required employee name
- email — optional employee email address
- department — optional department field
- position — optional employee position
- reports_to_email — optional manager email for reporting links
Remove or export records #
Employee export downloads a CSV within the caller's allowed scope and logs a bulk export event. Employee deletion is administrator-only and deletes that employee's sessions and notifications along with the employee record. Do not assume this removes every associated record in every subsystem; confirm before promising complete erasure.
Review the export contents and access permissions carefully because it contains personal information.
Use this guidance thoughtfully
This page describes the current product workflow; it is not an HR policy or a promise about every deployment. Before acting on information about an employee, verify the source record, consider context the system cannot see, and use your organization's process. If a control behaves differently from this guide, check the current workspace UI and confirm the saved result rather than assuming an action completed.
